This is one where I honestly have no clue where he may be. Mexico is always the standard guess. But he truly could be anywhere in the U.S. as well imo.

AMW got some very good tips on him the very first time he was profiled in 2003. This included one identifying a small tattoo on his finger that AMW left out of his profile on purpose because they knew it was a detail only somebody who knew Munguia would know about. They pretty much confirmed, at the time, that he was in fact hiding out in the Chicago suburbs (specifically, Carpentersville). Many informants in the area said they recognized him, but despite an all-out search Munguia slipped through the cracks.

This is really baffling as compared to many other cold case fugitives on this site, I personally don't think Arturo "Jessi Vega" Munguia should be this hard to find. Considering especially that there's the same possibility of Arturo being in Chicago compared to his native Mexico.

I think part of what makes this case so confusing is the fact that nobody apparently knows what this guy's real name is. AMW first profiled him under the name of Jessi Vega in 2003. That's the name investigators called him as well, which leads me to believe that's what they assumed his real name was. Then, after AMW profiled him, they got a whole bunch of tips and did an update. During that update, they revealed that Jessi Vega was not his real name. They discovered that he had been arrested in Chicago under the name Arturo Munguia, which is the name we call him on this forum, and also the name AMW called him in the later years of the website. But in that same broadcast, Tom Morris said an ex-girlfriend told investigators his real name was actually Jesus Munguia.
I find it really hard to believe that a guy with this long of a criminal record hasn't gotten in trouble again. But where has he been arrested? We know he's connected to Salt Lake City, and apparently spent quite a bit of time in the Chicago area.
When I first saw this guy profiled in May 2003, I did not expect him to still be on the run 17 years later. Certainly I didn't expect him to outlast ANDRE NEVERSON as a fugitive.

Just wanted to acknowledge all of Trisha's friends and family reading this site. I also wanted to let them know if they didn't already that I searched PACER (the online Federal court case database) and it says Munguia aka Vega's UFAP (Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution) warrant was dismissed in 2008. Unfortunately the document explaining the reason is apparently sealed. I understand Munguia could still be in the U.S. but the possibility he fled the country is still there in my opinion so I don't get why they'd dismiss it. Sometimes federal warrants are reissued or they don't always show up in PACER, plus the confusing factor of aliases here, but just wanted to let Trisha's loved ones know just in case as maybe a case can be made to reissue the federal UFAP warrant if it was dismissed. ecf.utd.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/DktRpt.pl?501013787744491-L_1_0-1

Just wanted to make an additional comment that I've made Munguia case of the week on our forum this week (November 28th- December 4th, 2021), so hopefully that will help get some additional views as well.
