BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - A $50,000 reward remains active for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Tyler Dickson in 2021.
On July 3, 2021, Butte County Sheriff's Deputies raced out to Bidwell Canyon Campground to assist California State Parks Peace Officers with a homicide investigation. 20-year-old Tyler Dickson of San Pablo was shot & killed.
“It’s just an unfortunate tragedy that again, someone that he trusted and people that he thought he could count as friends would murder him while he was sleeping in a tent," Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said.
The Sheriff's office has not stopped investigating this case. Sheriff Honea tells me he believes that a person From the group Tyler was camping with killed him.
“We have talked to a lot of those individuals and found many of them to be less cooperative," Honea said.
In 2022 Governor Gavin Newsom’s Office issued a $50,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for Tyler’s death.
That reward remains available today.
“We’re still working on this case. We have invested thousands of staff hours investigating this case both utilizing members of the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and law enforcement partners from state and federal level agencies,” Honea said.
The Butte County Sheriff's Office encourages anyone with information pertaining to Tyler’s death to come forward and contact Detective Zach Price at 530-538-7671.
