From kmbc.com (January 2023 article):
RAYTOWN, Mo. —
Nearly three years after a local mother was murdered, her family is still searching for justice.
Family and friends of Alexuas Acord spent hours in the cold passing out more than 250 fliers, hoping to find the person who killed her.
For each car that stopped and every window that rolled down, justice got a little closer for the mother of two. Acord would have turned 24 years old Saturday.
"She was beautiful. She was my best friend,” her mother, Jackie Mitts, said.
Standing along 50 Highway in Raytown, family and friends spent her birthday looking for tips that could help them find answers. They said they’ll do it every Jan. 14 until they find her killer.
“We just need your help,” Mitts said. "All I can do is come out here and do this and hope that I reach somebody somewhere that wants to tell the truth.”
Acord was sitting in her Grandview driveway late one Friday night when someone shot her five times. She was 21 years old.
"Five times y'all shot her five times,” her mom said. “And again, why?"
Mitts has been looking for that answer since April 2020.
"I'll never, ever stop fighting to get justice for her,” she said.
There is a $2,500 reward for tips leading to an arrest. If you know anything call the crime stoppers tips hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
