AMW aired thousands of cases over the years, and in all those cases, there are bound to be a few that are similar to each other, even if they're committed by another person. When this happened, AMW would quite frequently recycle footage, either from reenactments, interviews or other footage used by the show.
What are some examples of recycled bits you can think of from AMW?
Here's a couple I can think of:
- Anthony Carter's reenactment was one of the most frequently recycled. Most of the clips were used during brief stories about escape artists. Notable stories include Henry Corral and the Madera escapees.
- Much of the footage and interviews from Daniel San Diego's story came from a feature AMW did on the Straight Edge movement back in 1999 (Adam Peace and James Blackmon were "tacked-on" fugitives to that feature, which can be found on YouTube). This includes the interview with the band Earth Crisis (in San Diego's story, they simply play one clip, of the lead singer saying "Straight Edge is a lifetime commitment.")
- AMW filmed a Voodoo ceremony to go along with Esnel Jean's story in 2000, and that same footage was used during Jean-Marie Jean-Francois' reenactment. Not surprising, given John Turchin said Voodoo ceremonies are rarely recorded, and both cases involved Voodoo.
- Jean Seraphin's reenactment is also Dudley Forbes' reenactment. Both were essentially wanted for the same crime (shooting up a nightclub after getting into an argument with someone there) and I remember on the old forums, one user (I want to say it was CatchumAll) actually called Seraphin "Dudley Forbes Redux."
- One piece of footage that was repurposed in an interesting way was Tammy Weller's. AMW reenacted Weller's police interview, and at one point filmed Weller from the back. During Tuen Lee's story, AMW took that one clip and used it when they described the victim coming forward to police.
Can anybody else think of footage or interviews that were recycled by AMW?
