(Above photo credit" amw.com archives) Investigators in Los Angeles are searching for George Barraza in connection with the murder of 15-year old Brenda Sierra. He was aired once in the Lifetime season in 2012. On October 18, 2002, Brenda was walking to her local high school when she disappeared. The following day, her body was found behind some trees along a roadway. She had been raped and murdered. Investigators believe that Brenda was targeted because her brother witnessed a fatal shooting and her killers wanted to intimate her brother to not testify in court. An eyewitness came forward and said that Brenda was sexually assaulted in East Los Angeles prior to her death. Five people have been identified in Brenda's murder, one of those people is 32-year old George Barraza who is believed to be travelling back and forth between the United States and Mexico. The others consist of two incarcerated inmates, one deceased individual and a female relative of one of the suspects. --- Thoughts? When this case was aired on AMW, there two other fugitives profiled along with George Barraza, but it sounds like they've been located. This case got a brand new article yesterday with the most recent information. It should be noted that George Barraza hasn't been charged with Brenda's murder, but investigators need to talk to him about it. alpenhornnews.com/breakthrough-in-crestline-body-dumping-p5690-1.htmAdmin Note #1: According to the Justice Network's Public Service Announcement, anyone with information on Barraza's whereabouts is asked to call the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-800-336-0102Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

George Barraza has a lot of questions to answer. So if he really has nothing to do with Brenda Sierra's murder, he should turn himself in and talk to authorities. Otherwise, the longer this goes on without his arrest, the more guilty he looks.

Ok I re-read the article and apparently it says they released sketches of two persons of interest on January 2nd of this year- yet I don't see the sketches in the article. There were some old skethces from 2012 I found on Google images but I don't know if those are the located suspects or not. (Or if perhaps they located the suspects from that January 2nd release)
In any case, locating Barraza should hopefully lead to identifying the suspects in the sketches if they haven't been caught already.

I think it's pretty much assumed Barraza is in Mexico but he hasn't been located yet and he's probably that third suspect still not yet arrested. I wouldn't hold my breath that he'll be arrested soon, but at least it doesn't seem like the trail is completely cold and they have a general sense he's in the country somewhere. www.cbsnews.com/news/california-woman-arrested-charged-in-2002-rape-murder-case/

Barraza has been found dead in Sinaloa, Mexico. Exactly how he died doesn't seem clear. (It seems possibly as a result of cartel violence since the article mentions he was in the Sinaloa Cartel, but I don't want to speculate too much) While I certainly have no sympathy for Barraza based on his alleged criminal actions, I don't believe the other defendants have been brought to trial for Brenda Sierra's murder yet, so I hope this doesn't complicate matters in making sure she gets full justice. Despite Barraza's death, anyone with information on the case is urged to call the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 mynewsla.com/crime/2017/10/17/suspected-gang-murderer-east-la-teen-girl-found-dead-mexico/

Should clarify, according to an L.A. Times article (which for some reason incorrectly identifies Barraza as being on the Marshals Top 15 list- he was being sought by the Marshals but was not on their top 15 list)- what L.A. Detectives are looking for are witnesses who may have hesitated to come forward because of their fear of Barraza's alleged gang and cartel ties. They figure now that Barraza is deceased, some may be a little less afraid to speak up now. www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-brenda-sierra-fugitive-20171017-story.html
