From brproud.com:
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Police Department is looking for a man who is wanted for his involvement in the death of his baby.
The police say one-year-old J’ahrei Paul died in the hospital on Oct. 31 after being brought to the emergency room by a family member. An autopsy revealed that Paul died from a fentanyl overdose.
The police are now looking for Charles Lee, 28, who is wanted for his involvement in Paul’s death.
According to official arrest documents, Lee, who had full custody of Paul, found him unresponsive and asked a family member to bring him to the hospital. When police arrived at the hospital, they spoke with the witness who told them that Lee arrived at their apartment with Paul who was cold to the touch and not breathing. Lee refused to go to urgent care because he had an active arrest warrant and did not want to encounter law enforcement, according to the documents.
Lee is wanted for negligent homicide and second-degree cruelty to juveniles because he did not seek immediate medical attention and waited for a family member when he had the means of contacting 911, according to the document.
Anyone who has information on the overdose death investigation is urged to contact the Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4769 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
