(Above photo credit% LAPD Most Wanted website) Suspect: Ramirez, Maria Elena Sex: F Descent: Hispanic Height: 5' 3 Weight: 150 Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Date of Birth: May 11, 1954 Age: 60 Do you have information on this person? Detective T. Morris at 213-485-3111. On October 20, 1996, at approximately 1010 hours, the suspect was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina south on Broadway at Slauson Ave. in the city of Los Angeles, California, when she collided with victim’s vehicle, a 1992 Ford Taurus. Victim William Lake, a 77-year-old male, died at the scene. Suspect fled the scene with the assistance of two male Hispanics, driving a gray Toyota sedan. The suspect is believed to be living in Guanajuato, Mexico with family members. A warrant has been issued for her arrest. -- Thoughts? I don't believe this particular LAPD fugitive was ever profiled on AMW, but we still need to find Maria Elena Ramirez. The good news is that we know which Mexican state she's believed to be hiding out in, the bad news is that she's been on the run for 18 years. www.lapdonline.org/all_most_wanted/most_wanted_view/12903Admin Note: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

My fear is if Mexico considers this a serious enough case to really want to send her back here. That is NOT to say it isn't a tragic case and of course at least you and I care. But one would think they are more inclined to go out of their way to send back murder and rape suspects as opposed to hit-and-run suspects.

As of June 10th, 2018, Ramirez is still listed on the LAPD most wanted website, which granted is not the most updated website, but enough for me to reasonably assume that she's probably still wanted as of this update. (Most wanted profile link is the same as in the OP).

As of today, June 2, 2021, I checked the Los Angeles County Court Records database for Maria Ramirez. Here's what's weird. Despite the fact that the new LAPD website was made around 2005-2006, the court database says that the case for Maria Ramirez was "dismissed/not prosecuted" in 2003. I'm not sure if they updated that because Maria was not in custody. Any clarification on this would be appreciated.
