Haleigh Cummings disappeared nearly six years ago. AMW aired her case in 2009, shortly after she went missing.
Five-year old Haleigh lived with her family in Satsuma, Florida, her father Ronald, his live-in girlfriend Misty and her three-year old brother. On Feb 9, 2009, Misty and the two children went to sleep in the same bedroom, and Ronald returned home later that night from work. The following day, they informed authorities that Haleigh was missing. No immediate clues were determined as to what may have happened to Haleigh. Ronald and Misty got married one month later but divorced several months after that.
Investigators questioned Misty about Haleigh's disappearance and found her statements to be constantly inconsistent. Haleigh's biological mother, Crystal Sheffield, accused Ronald of child abuse and neglect, even though he was given custody of his two children due to Crystal's cocaine use. Later, Misty and her older brother Tommy accused a man from Tennessee named Joe Overstreet because he visited the home shortly before Haleigh disappeared. Tommy accused Joe of trying to steal a machine gun from the residence and when that didn't work, he abducted Haleigh at knifepoint. Joe denies the allegations and a related search of a nearby river yielded nothing of interest.
In 2010, investigators determined that Haleigh was dead and that her family had came up with a story to cover themselves that they couldn't even support. Also in 2010, Misty, Tommy, Ronald and other family members and friends were arrested on drug charges.

Thoughts? All I can say is poor Haleigh. The issues with bringing anyone to trial in this case is that Haleigh's body was never recovered and there's a lack of evidence to substantiate a criminal case against anyone. Someone is going to have to crack and confess to what really happened.
