The trial is set to begin in December of This year while I don't condone murder and while two wrongs don't make a right I will definitely not shed any tears over Bulgers death I actually met a Boston native who claimed one of his friend was murdered by bulger and I o hope the guy I met is at least at peace knowing that his friend is finally able to rest in peace and I hope he is as well fyi whitey Bulger had two brothers one of them named William Bulger became a respected politician in the Massachusetts who was a veteran who served in the Korean war he would eventually become president of the Massachusetts Senate and had become a very well respected member of the local Boston area resident and is also the president of the Massachusetts university system and John was a retired court clerk magistrate who was convicted of perjury related to whitey Bulger despite the fact that he committed perjury they are still fairly respected and i can say that i respect them a lot because they overcame family tragedy when he lost his dad they also come from extreme poverty and they didnt follow James to the world of organized crime that wasn't any easy task even though they did have there flaws I truly think they are interesting story

Fotios geas was sentenced to an additional 25 years he was one of the two who actually killed him it's the most severe punishment because he the one who killed the elderly crime boss Paul decologero was the lookout he was sentenced to an additional 4 years and Sean McKinnon who was charged with lying to the FBI was sent back to Florida and received no additional jail time you can tell how much the government really didn't want to deal with this the murder was brutal but considering how much whitey bulger and his gang of vicious psychopathic thugs did to the good people of Boston and then basically leaving his associates to take the fall which was.lethal mistake number one mistake number 2 snitching on rivals and not expecting retaliation which means he must have been really deluded and then angering said Rivals to try to get even geas was literally known to hate snitches and woman abusers and to be honest I'm not condoning murder but I wont shed any tears

I am originally from Massachusetts and now live thousands of miles away due to the fact that certain ones in my family had connections into that mob and our lives were miserable because of it.
Whitey Bulger was not just an individual criminal. I know you don't want to get into tin-foil helmet stuff but here are some hard incontrovertible facts: Whitey Bulger's brother, Billy Bulger, rose in politics while Whitey controlled the streets. Billy Bulger became the head of the Massachusetts Supreme Court while Dukakis was governor. After he retired from politics, he was named president of the University of Massachusetts.
In the early 1980's there was a double homicide in Western Massachusetts known as "The Lenox 7" case in which two young men were put into a car that lacked inside-door handles and the car rolled into a lake and they drowned. It was written up as the results of a teenage brawl and the charges were dropped from Murder 1 to "Conspiracy To Commit Manslaughter"!
(How do you conspire to commit manslaughter? Isn't that by definition an unintended death?)
They were acquitted. One of the drowned men was the son of a union steward and one of the charged men was the son of an executive-level person in the corporation that employed that union steward.
The families of the two drowned men appealed for justice and Governor Dukakis tried to re-open or investigate the case. Suddenly he faced a ridiculous "scandal" that ended his career.
If you want to do some research to prove the facts, here are some helpful search terms:
>Lenox 7 NYT Burke Drowning
should bring up a few old New York Times articles about the case.
>Dukakis Willy Horton
should bring up some news stories about the scandal, which was essentially that Dukakis had given clemency to a convicted felon who later committed another crime.
One of the seven accused was, as I said, the son of a corporate management person and one of the drowned men was the son of a union steward in that same corporation. Another of the accused was the nephew of the local district attorney at the time and was also related to a known Patriarca Crime family capo.
I hope I am not pushing the envelope on where crime touches conspiracy here. These are just some interesting facts about the world of Whitey Bulger and his brother Billy Bulger.
If you want to look into it more, go into YouTube and search "Dukakis Saint Patrick's Day" or "Howie Carr Whitey Bulger" and you will find some videos of actual party time with Bulger and Dukakis. Howie Carr was a Boston journalist who made the local mob hit main topic and he wrote a book about Whitey Bulger.

I wouldn't doubt it bulger cultivated ties with the fbi Boston division for a long time hell he killed a Tulsa businessman with one associate Stephen the rifleman flemmi in my opinion one bulger most feared psychotic enforcers

But I don't think they were ever charged with any felonies related to whiteys criminal empire You are right. Billy Bulger was always considered to be the "good one". The media turned them into a kind of folklore.
