Hi everyone,
Just letting everyone at the forum know the In Pursuit production team was gracious enough to invite me to a behind the scenes taping of In Pursuit's "Hot On the Trail" special as a thank you for promoting the show on this forum.
I apologize to everyone on the forum as I found out the details about this meet at the literal last minute, otherwise I'd have made a thread for you guys to submit questions if I had more time to prepare.
On set were John Callahan and Michele Sigona, who will host the special alongside John and Cal. I sat in a room with the production crew and Hayden Walsh (John Walsh's youngest son) watching them film their segments (it is a lot more difficult than it seems. They had to do multiple takes to get wordings right, and also say the same thing over and over again until they choe the right way it was said, say a sentence in multiple ways etc...).
In between takes John came in the room and introduced himself to me which was surreal (I actually met JW before but like a 15 seconds meet and greet, this was different- he knew who I was and I was an invited guest- which was surreal). Then I was invited back to the studio room where I got to take selfies with John and Cal and Hayden. I also got to tell Michele Sigona I was a big fan of her as well and watched her when she first started out at AMW.
A couple interesting tidbits:
-John and Cal are very authentic and just as cool in real life as they are on tv. The only diva thing about John Walsh is he have to have a glass of Sunkist orange soda every 15 minutes. (It used to be Coca-Cola).
-For some reason the term "scumbag" is no longer encouraged on regar cable TV so now it's "dirtbag" instead. And the only thing better than seeing JW saying dirtbag is seeing him say it multiple times in multiple takes.
-We talked about how it was determined John Walsh wouldn't host the studio show sitting on a stool as it's never been him- he's always moving. (Hence why The Hunt was an odd fit for him).
Also John was feeling a bit under the weather so I may not have to got pass along any messages anyway but when he tried to thank me, I did try to stress there are a lot of fans on the forum that are big fans as well and didn't want to make the forum about me when it wouldn't run without all of your help. He did say to tell you guys he said hi so it's official, everyone reading this, John Walsh said hi to you.
Finally the only reason I'm not posting a selfie is I try to maintain a low profile for security reasons, so I don't have some idiot fugitive family member try to dox or harass me for calling their wanted loved one a scumbag or dirtbag lol. So for the "pics or it didn't happen crowd" I can't do it currently, but if I ever decide to pull a Tony Stark and say f*** it, I am Iron Man, I'll post the pic and reveal more about myself.
But yeah it was really awesome and John and Cal are awesome and really appreciative of all of us!
