KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The search continues for a man accused of driving drunk when he crashed into another car on Sprinkle Road, killing one person and seriously injuring another.
An arrest warrant was issued for Ricardo Castillo-Ramirez in April, four months after the January 14, 2022 fatal crash. He is still not in custody.
This was Castillo-Ramirez's fourth recorded drunk driving incident since 2014.
Austin Hankla, 24, and his 22-year-old fiancée, Shanae Moore were in the car that was hit. Hankla died at the scene, according to his family.
Now Hankla's family is offering $2,000 to anyone that helps them find Castillo-Ramirez.
" I get the fact that you made a mistake and you're scared, and I get that the mother wants to protect her son, but what about my mom? What about his fiance? What about us? What option do we get," said Shawnia Preston, Hankla's sister.
Castillo-Ramirez's driving record shows multiple reports including suspended licenses, speeding violations, and substance abuse, according to the Secretary of State in Lansing.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office at 269-488-8911 if you have any information on Ricardo Castillo-Ramirez's whereabouts.
