Miguel Angel Rangel was first aired on the December 18th, 1999 episode of AMW on Fox. He is on the Orange County District Attorney's Most Wanted list. Below is their description of his case:
"On July 27, 1998, Rangel is accused of being involved in an argument with his live-in girlfriend, Marisela Sandoval. The victim, fearing for her safety, took Rangel’s handgun and ran through the home. She climbed out of a bedroom window and was chased by the defendant. A struggle ensued and Rangel is accused of being able to get the gun away from the victim. Rangel is accused of shooting the victim in front of their 6-year-old son.
Rangel is accused of fleeing the scene in a vehicle that was recovered the next day."
A few more notes according to a very old but decently detailed AMW archive from 1999:
-Rangel had a history of domestic abuse against Sandoval and had been convicted of spousal abuse before the murder.
-Authorities have confirmed that Rangel was in Garden Grove during the summer of 1999 obtaining duplicate copies of birth certificates for his three children.
-Initially, in 1999, police suspected that he was either smuggling children across the Mexico border or was planning to abduct his kids.
Thoughts? Thankfully, if Rangel was planning to abduct his kids, that apparently never happened. However, the fact they suspected he may have been planning on smuggling children is rather scary. What's also rather scary is he is a convicted spouse abuser and had been on the run for 16 years now. I fear for whatever woman he's with now's safety. Which is why it's so important to take him in, despite the passage of time.
