A grand jury has indicted a fugitive on a murder charge in the June shooting death of a Bridgeton man.
Mario Soriano, 28, was shot multiple times on the evening of June 3 during a party in the rear yard of a home on North Pearl Street in Bridgeton in Cumberland County.
Friends drove the victim to a nearby medical facility, where he died a short time later, according to police.
David Morales-Olmedo, 26, of Bridgeton, allegedly shot the victim several times in the torso and legs, according to a criminal complaint filed in the case. A witness reported that Morales-Olmedo fired several shots after Soriano was already on the ground.
Police said they recovered nine spent shell casings at the scene.
The suspect was last seen leaving the area in a silver or gray SUV and remains at large, officials confirmed Tuesday.
A Cumberland County grand jury indicted Morales-Olmedo last week on charges of first-degree murder and second-degree counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Bridgeton Police at 856-451-0033 (use extension zero at the prompt) or call 911. Anonymous tips may be submitted via bpd.tips or ccpo.tips.
Morales-Olmedo is described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 4 inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, authorities cautioned.
Soriano was born in Bridgeton and lived most of his life there, according to his obituary. He graduated from Bridgeton High School in 2011, was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and had worked as a home remodeler. In addition to his parents, three sisters and a longtime companion, he is survived by a daughter.
A motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.

Thoughts? As of today, December 6, 2021, there is an active warrant for David Morales-Olmedo in New Jersey's court records database. The article that I cut and pasted to this thread was posted back on November 23rd so thankfully there is still media attention on this case.
