Authorities say they also want to speak with the suspect’s girlfriend. The fatal shooting occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. July 25 at the Hidden Grove Apartments at 13822 SW 270th St. According to police, officers responded to the area after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. When they arrived, they found the victim, Demetrius Harris, 27, suffering from gunshot wounds. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel transported Harris to a local hospital, where he later died. Police said detectives determined that the victim had been arguing with a woman, identified as 19-year-old Maxine McCord, and her family members in the courtyard of the apartment complex. Police said McCord’s boyfriend, Joshua Ismael Campos, also 19, came out of his apartment and shot Harris. He then fled the scene with McCord, leaving their 1-year-old child with relatives, authorities said. Campos is wanted by police on a second-degree murder charge. McCord is wanted for questioning and detectives believe she is with her boyfriend. “Investigators do not know if Ms. McCord is being held against her will,” a press release from the police department stated. As of this posting date (August 28th, 2021), Campos is still listed in the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's wanted persons database as having a warrant for homicide. I will say that while I am appreciative that Florida has this online public access tool unlike other states, they really need to update the profile statistics as they have him listed as 4 feet and 50 pounds which I'm pretty sure is inaccurate. A couple of other things I wanted to point out: -I get that Campos might make a self-defense argument since Harris was arguing with his girlfriend but you still don't take the law into your own hands. (Edit: This theory was made before it was revealed Campos allegedly fired 18 shots at the victim, so I'm not sure if that would be his defense if he's ever caught anymore, was just a prediction that he could in theory claim he was protecting his girlfriend, which of course still doesn't condone anything) -Maxine McCord is wanted for questioning only, it should be stressed the main reason she needs to be found is to not judge her, But to make sure she's safe. Anything she knows about this case is then the next thing police can handle. There was an AMW fugitive once named Larry Harper, who shot and killed a man that physically assaulted his girlfriend, only to wind up kidnapping the same girl he was supposedly protecting. It should also be noted that Joshua allegedly fired 18 shots at Demetrius while the victim's girlfriend and five-year old son were in close proximity. This is according to the FBI wanted page. I feel that Joshua's inevitable claim of self-defense that Scumhunter mentioned seems less realistic based on what the FBI is saying.

Campos is a US citizen so I don't think if he's not still in the US he would have fled South of the border to maybe one of the border states of Matamoros Tamaulipas or Chihuahua if he's willing to show this level of horrific violence in firing a handgun 18 times in a close proximity to a child and a mother this is just ridiculous I find the fact that if claims self defense laughable but I firmly believe he may still be in Miami or in Tampa I don't think he left the state I think this will be a yaser said situation where he was hiding in plain sight the whole time or if he's not there he might be hiding in south Georgia Atlanta or mobile Alabama or maybe Dallas or Houston or San Antonio

I have to clarify something- Campos has never claimed self-defense that I know of (granted he hasn't been caught yet to claim anything). I want to stress because I see it happen a lot on this forum where I theorize or predict something and it is misread and taken as fact- not from you guys but from forum readers. (I once thought an unknown suspect victim was possibly killed because of professional jealousy- just a hunch/theory I had and someone took it on social media and ran with it as "oh wow this guy was killed because someone was jealous of him!" like it was an official and not just Scumhunter alleged theory) It is something I predicted he in theory could claim based on the initial alleged scenario, although that is before I learned he allegedly fired 18 shots, where I'm not sure he can claim that anymore based on that.
