 (Above photo credit: registeredsexoffenders.com) On January 1, 1999, (Wilda) Ira Stokes escaped from Coffee County Jail while serving a 1 year sentence for sexual abuse of a minor female and awaiting trial on a felony charge of sodomy of a minor male. Stokes spouse is not cooperating with law enforcement. When last seen, he was wearing a blue prison uniform, handcuffs, and no shoes. Thoughts? Stokes was aired once on Mar 6, 1999. There's not very much online to work with here, except that he was probably getting assistance from his partner while on the run at the beginning. He was on my short list to profile as well so nice find! Sadly this seems like a case like despite the cold status some people may know where he is but no one is saying anything.

With how rural Alabama can get, it wouldn't surprise me if he never left the state. He could be out in the middle of nowhere and nobody would know who he is.
Here's another one of those cases I wish AMW had given more publicity to. Stokes would have been a perfect 15 Seconds of Shamer if they chose to air him that way.

Just wanted to add two things to this thread: -Stokes is as of 12/17/2017 still listed as a wanted fugitive on the Alabama Law Enforcement Community Information Center website. (So is Vincente Soto but he was just captured in Mexico last month so we'll give them a mulligan on that one. Also for some reason it says date last seen 4/16/2006, so I don't know if there was a sighting then or what that means. app.alea.gov/Community/wfSearch.aspx?Type=25&Status=5Additionally, another website lists Stokes date of birth as July 19th, 1957, which would make Stokes 60 years old as of this posting date.
