Rachel Cooke is a missing college student who disappeared while going out for a jog in Georgetown, Texas. Both America's Most Wanted and Unsolved Mysteries have profiled the case. Below is an Unsolved wiki description of the case:
"Rachel Cooke was staying at her parent's home in Georgetown, Texas during winter break from Mesa Junior College in San Diego. When her mother left for work at 8am on January 10, 2002, Rachel was asleep on the couch. When she awoke, she decided to take a jog; Rachel had been on the high school cross-country team and was taking regular four-mile runs in the morning. Authorities believe that Rachel left her home at around 9:30am, and witnesses spotted her at various points on her route. Several neighbors saw her at 11am, near the end of her run, just 200 yards from her home. Her father returned home at 3pm to go shopping with Rachel, but she was not there and had not left a note. Several people went around to search for Rachel, but they were never able to find her and to this day, nobody knows what really happened to her."
Thoughts? The reason I'm posting this case today is there is a sad update. Rachel's father Robert has died at age 59. He had vowed to never give up. Now Rachel's mother will have to find justice in Robert's memory.
There was a confession in this case from an inmate named Michael Keith Moore who later recanted but was still charged. A 2014 article says his confession was indeed proven to be false.
Which means the best clue might be an unidentified male driving a sports car who was seen driving a sports car and trying to talk to another female jogger around the same time as Rachel's disappearance. A sketch is above and more sketches can be found in the Charley Project link below.
