Phu Tan Nguyen is wanted for the homicide of 22-year old Toai Tan Nguyen. I didn't read anything that said the two were related, despite having similar full names.
Authorities allege that Toai was outside a restaurant when Phu walked up to a crowd and allegedly shot Toai to death. Numerous witnesses saw the homicide. The motive appears to have been an argument that happened inside the restaurant.
Phu fled after the homicide and was last known to be in Alabama. A 2002 article on Newspapers.com stated that investigators still occasionally got tips in the manhunt. One tip for instance was that Phu was working on a shrimp boat in Alabama. However, none of the tips have ever panned out.

Thoughts? As of today, July 15, 2021, there is an active UFAP warrant in PACER for Phu Tan Nguyen. It was issued on March 21, 1996 and has had no movement since then. That is our reference that confirms Phu Tan Nguyen is still at large. There were no documents in the case file due to the age of the case, but it does mention the warrant was issued because he fled from North Carolina to Alabama.
As for Phu's whereabouts, I can see him in practically any Vietnamese community in the United States.
