(Above photo credit: nydailynews.com) From the New York Daily News (nydailynews.com) Two men found dead in a Bronx fire eight years ago were repeatedly stabbed before their apartment was set ablaze, police said. The new details were revealed Friday as cops released photos of victims Kennedy Sanchez and Jonathan Toribio in the hopes of generating fresh leads in the cold case. Firefighters responding to a May 8, 2013 fire on Story Ave. near Olmstead Ave. in Unionport found Sanchez and Toribio, both 24, dead on a mattress. Detectives believe that someone set the mattress on fire. An investigation later revealed that both men were stabbed before the fire. At least one of the victims had three knife wounds, cops said. A gun and a blade were found in the bedroom. Toribio and Sanchez moved into the apartment a month earlier with a third man, who was nowhere to be found when the fire started. Firefighters had to break down the front door, which was locked, but a back door to the apartment was left wide open, police sources said. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.www.nydailynews.com/new-york/nyc-crime/ny-nyc-arson-dead-victims-photo-cold-case-20210508-dworemgxlfar7knqa5le6qmkzu-story.htmlThoughts? I am uncertain as to why a name and photo of the third roommate has never been released, unless no one knows who he is and there's no photo to release. Any clarification in my opinion would help.
