BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KBAK/KBFX) — Delano police are asking for help in finding a man who is wanted for multiple charges including attempted murder.
Police said they were called to a Walmart parking lot round 3 p.m. on Wednesday in Delano for a man who was passed out in his car.
Firefighters were the first to arrive on scene and determined the man, identified as 32-year-old Dustin James Drennen, was possibly intoxicated to the point of unconsciousness.
When the officers arrived, they began to assist firefighters with Drennen. Drennen then woke up, got into his vehicle and reversed it. In the process he struck officer and firefighter with the car and dragged the firefighter in the process.
Drennen then drove into a parked police car that had an officer inside. The officer was injured in the crash, while Drennen drove away from the scene.
Drennen has an active arrest warrant for multiple counts of attempted murder, multiple counts of assault on a police officer/firefighter, multiple counts of hit and run, along with evading a police officer and other charges.
He was driving a green 1998 Dodge Neon. The Dodge has a Washington State plate which reads: 218WLC. Drennen has been contacted by police in multiple locations in the Central Valley, including in the cities of Hanford, Tulare, and Delano. Drennen may be living out of his vehicle.
If you have any information regarding the location of the Dodge Neon or Dustin James Drennen, call the Delano Police Department at (661) 721-3377.
