Remarks: Wanted for attempted first degree murder and possession and manufacture of a destructive device. Has been spotted In Virgin Islands. Maybe using an alias and possible in the Houston/New Orleans area. A Federal Warrant was issued on April 25, 1983, in Wyoming, charging him with manufacture and possession of a bomb.

Stephen Campbell has been wanted since 1983 and aired in the later years of AMW (I think). The following is the AMW radio description of his alleged crime:
"Sometimes relationships run their course and people move on, but cops say Stephen Campbell couldn't do that. Stephen and his wife Sarah separated years ago, but Campbell never got over her. When Sarah moved in with a new man, Campbell came up with a bizarre scheme to end that relationship. Cops say he planted a bomb inside a tool box and placed it on the man's front porch in Green River, Wyoming. But instead of blowing up his rival, Sarah opened the box and was nearly killed by the explosion. Police arrested Campbell but he fled after posting bail. Cops say Stephen Campbell has a pilot's license and a degree in electrical engineering."
Thoughts? Despite the apparent sightings in the Virgin Islands, the most interesting theory I've seen on Campbell has come from some fellow sleuthing sites. Many of whom are convinced a man named "Joseph Newton Chandler" whose body was found in Eastlake Ohio, 2002 and Campbell are the same person.
This Joseph Chandler, whose cause of death is listed as a suicide, turned out to be using an alias. And "Chandler" who passed away at age 65 (at least his false identity was 65, a few years older than Campbell would have been) was said to have stolen the identity of a young boy killed in an auto accident in 1937. John Doe/Chandler, at the claimed age of 41, wrote off for a Social Security Number in September of 1978* from 2326-1/2 Canyon Lake Drive in Rapid City, SD. Doe used the boy's birthday of March 11, 1937.
The site I'll link goes into more detail but here is a brief summary of the similarities I thought were most striking of the ones I listed:
-John Doe/"Joseph Chandler" worked as an electrical engineer. Campbell was an electrical engineer.
-Evidence points to "Chandler" spending time in California. Campbell was born in California.
-John Doe/Chandler was possibly married to a Cuban woman. The Virgin Islands, where Campbell was reported sighted, are in close proximity to Cuba.
-In 2002, John Doe's body was discovered on July 30, just a few days after Campbell's own birthday.
-Only 308 miles lie between Cheyenne, WY and Rapid City, SD.
Thoughts? My only problem with this theory is since it's been around since 2008, this must have been submitted to authorities. Right? You'd think one person would have sent it to AMW at least when they aired the case.
If it turns out Campbell is not the same man as Chandler, I take it he may still be in the Caribbean somewhere.
