CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — Charleston police are stepping up efforts to track down a long-time fugitive they've been searching for for several years.
Donnell Strong, 31, has outstanding warrants for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and wanton endangerment.
The charges stem from a deadly May 2016 shooting at a Charleston bar.
Police previously said that an altercation broke out at Boondocks Bar on the city's West Side that left one person dead and several injured. Police said numerous rounds were fired inside and outside of the bar. Jamaine Sutton, 32, of Dunbar was killed. Jaques Lamar Slade, 26, of Gastonia, N.C., was later arrested and charged with Sutton's murder.
Soon after the shooting, police issued a warrant for Strong's arrest and deemed him "armed and extremely dangerous." According to a criminal complaint, a man police say was Strong, was seen on surveillance video pulling a handgun from his waistband and firing shots toward the ceiling as he tried to leave the bar. Police say Strong has been convicted three times of wanton endangerment charges that involve a firearm since 2007.
Previous reports also indicate that Strong has outstanding county warrants, including a probation violation on underlying charges of selling heroin.
Strong is 6'1", 300 pounds and his last known address was on Granada Way in Charleston.

Thoughts? I feel it is safe to reasonably assume Strong as still at large as of today's posting date (April 9th, 2021) since th above article is from only three days ago and he had been on the run for five years. However, if that status has changed and/or changes in the future, anyone is more than welcome to email our website contact form and let us know.
