The overhead sign said the church was independent and fundamental Baptist. The IFB is a specific theological movement with specific characteristics, so in the event there was a theo-political motive, the first things anyone should know about IFB theology and political platforms is that the IFB is second only to the New IFB for their hostility to all LGBT-etc demographics' lives and their notoriety on social media there-for (NIFB pastor Steven Lee Anderson of Tempe, ARZN was nicknamed "The Hitler Pastor" in the last decade or so for his obsession with executing all LGBTs in America), and second only to the Institute in Basic Life Principles for their hostility to women's autonomy. I have no idea who the pastor was, nor how vehement he or she (most likely a he, given the IFB's misogyny) was about the movement's violent sexual politics compared with other infamous IFB and NIFB pastors, but what I described are the most likely sources of any theological and political motive for this.

Well it went over my head what kind of church this was but it's still no excuse for the attack and the culprits still need to be apprehended. It's one thing to protest against these places, but heaven forbid a firefighter gets killed trying to put out the flames etc...
