Roberto Barrera is accused of shooting Lorenzo Rodriguez to death and shooting and wounding Lorenzo's brother Rolando. The motive for the shooting was a domestic dispute over rent money.
Relatives of Roberto who witnessed the shooting, told investigators that Roberto fled to Mexico. The day after the murder, Roberto's spouse received a phone call from Houston, Texas. That call was from Roberto who indicated that he was not going to return to Chicago.
In January of 2009, the Chicago Police Department re-examined this case after several successful extraditions from Mexico. They requested the assistance of the FBI who issued an Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution warrant on January 30, 2009.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the Chicago Police Department at 312-746-6000 if you have any information on Roberto Barrera's whereabouts.

Thoughts? As of today, February 22, 2021, the federal UFAP warrant for Roberto Barrera is still active in PACER with no case updates aside from general Covid-19 court notices. Let's hope that the FBI can work with Mexican authorities to one day bring Roberto to justice if he is residing in Mexico.
