The FBI is seeking information regarding the unsolved murder of Maywood, Illinois police officer Thomas Wood.
Thomas Wood joined the Maywood Police Department in October 1997. On Oct 23, 2006, Officer Wood was sitting in his marked patrol car when someone shot him multiple times in the head and chest with what was believed to be a .380 caliber weapon. Wood later died from his wounds. The Chicago Sun-Times reported in 2012 many errors and irregularities with the investigation. This consisted of; a potential suspect being allowed to walk around the crime scene unattended; a stranger seen with Wood a week before the murder never being interviewed; evidence stored at the Maywood Police Station being destroyed in a flood; and a $100,000 reward allowed to dry up until the media began making inquires.
Thoughts? Sadly due to the state of affairs regarding the investigation, there may be hardly to no usable evidence to convict whoever killed Officer Wood. The first two mentioned irregularities shows that the Maywood Police Department didn't handle this investigation well at all. Quite sad, especially since murders of police officers are usually solved quickly.
