MANCHESTER, N.H. —
The investigation into a fatal shooting in downtown Manchester has gone cold.
Manchester police were called Feb. 26, 1993, to the rear of the Lafayette Club on Canal Street for a reported shooting.
Police found Diethelm Baumann, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Baumann, a German national, died immediately as a result of the wound.
Police said two or three people were in an alley outside the club where the shooting took place, and there were 75-100 people in the club at the time. Despite the fact the club was members-only, no one was able to identify the shooter.
A woman who was with Baumann at the time of the incident described the shooter as being a white man with a mustache and dark hair.
Police said at the time that Baumann and the shooter knew each other.
The shooter was last seen driving a snow-covered pickup truck, police said.
An extensive investigation spanning several months was conducted, but no one has ever been arrested.
