Yeah those age-enhanced photos look nothing like him at all. Makes you wonder why he turned himself in.

Yeah those age-enhanced photos look nothing like him at all. Makes you wonder why he turned himself in. My opinion is the pressure got the best of him, or he had a change of heart and decided it was the best thing to do. Honestly 26 days into 2017 and we have 2 captures, He made everyone's lives easier by turning himself in.

Yeah those age-enhanced photos look nothing like him at all. Makes you wonder why he turned himself in. Perhaps in addition to the top 10 publicity, he also read the stories of all those cold case fugitives getting captured by advanced facial recognition technology and figured it was a matter of time. Maybe he also saw himself on amwfans.com

Apparently Van Wisse had been negotiating with his attorneys and authorities about his surrender for weeks prior. He was living in central Mexico for sometime, it's not clear where or for hong long, but FBI agents were waiting for him and he approached the agents and one agent said "are you ready to turn yourself in??" (Classic) and Van Wisse had been taken into custody once he stepped onto the U.S. Side m.youtube.com/watch?v=bh79NDpxk38

Van Wisse has been sentenced to 30 years in prison as part of the plea deal. To Justice4Laurie and everyone who was a friend or family member of Laurie's, I hope you're all relieved to have some sense of justice now. I know a life sentence would have been more appropriate, but I also know John Walsh himself often recommends families accept plea deals for defendants even if it means less time just to not have to go through an emotional trial. I don't know if that's the case with you guys, but I do know Van Wisse will be in his 80's if he ever gets out. kxan.com/2017/03/28/austin-man-who-was-on-fbis-most-wanted-gets-30-years-for-murder/

No idea. None of the articles say. Also I apologize as I learned Laurie Stout's daughter is not happy with the sentence. Apparently though Van Wisse may have never surrendered without the deal and it was a condition of him coming back. He did apologize in court and claimed he was never violent before or after he killed Laurie Stout. That may be true, but he also went into hiding for over 20 years (or over 30 years if you don't count the official warrant). If he really was truly remorseful and really did "agree" with people who feel he should be tormented in hell, imo, he would have surrendered a long time ago and not cut a plea deal in order to do so. Also, if you're capable of violence once, you're capable of doing it again, no matter how much you think you're not a violent person. www.statesman.com/news/crime--law/just-robert-van-wisse-sentenced-years-1983-murder/wbnMapSYCS3iTfKhIAloFL/

He don't deserve to live in society of what he had did.

Going to bump/temporarily sticky this thread even though Van Wisse was captured since his capture will be discussed on this Sunday's 'Hunt'.

They mentioned a few towns in Mexico he lived in (one started with a C but I forget) and last known location was Mexico City.
They also said something about him believed to be living with a woman or child but it was never confirmed or denied.
