TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) — The U.S. Marshals Service has issued an arrest warrant for a Tulsa County man, who they believe fled the country while facing child sex abuse charges.
Officials say Motaz Barzak, who's a U.S. citizen, was scheduled to appear in Tulsa County District Court on June 12, 2018, to face four counts of child sex abuse.
According to court documents, on the same day of the hearing, Barzak went to the airport and bought a roundtrip ticket from Tulsa to Cairo, Egypt. Marshals confirmed Barzak was on that flight.
Investigators learned he withdrew roughly $1,700 from an ATM in Gaza, which borders Egypt, between June 16 and June 19, 2018.
On Oct. 19, 2020, Marshals were alerted that Barzak was giving a billing address in Gaza.
Due to not appearing in court, there's a bench warrant for his arrest for a $150,000 bond on each of his four counts of child sex abuse.
The District Attorney said he'd extradite Barzak from wherever he's found outside the U.S.
If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact the U.S. Marshals at 918-581-7738.
