Court documents state Scott Russell shot his wife in the back five times inside their Huntsville home and fled before deputies arrived. He has been charged with murder, a first-degree felony, four counts of felony discharge of a firearm with injury, a second-degree felony; possession or use of a controlled substance, class B misdemeanor; possession or use of drug paraphernalia, a class B misdemeanor. A warrant was also issued for Russell's arrest. Court documents state Russell turned off his phone in order to avoid being found by law enforcement. The shooting was reported by one of Russell's children, who was not at the home, after Russell had admitted to killing his wife and being high, according to court documents. The witness said Russell's behavior was "erratic" and he repeated incoherent statements. Russell is considered armed and dangerous.
