MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A man wanted in connection with a double homicide in Monroe has now been connected to the shooting of a 14-year-old that happened just ten days later.
According to information provided by law enforcement, Delarrious Jones, 28, is suspected to be one of two shooters who opened fire on a group of teenagers on Sept. 11.
Court records related to the case state that four teens were riding their bicycles on South 1st Street that afternoon when they were met with gunfire. Records state that a 14-year-old was shot and had to be air-lifted to Shreveport for treatment. Police say the shots were fired from the southwest in the direction of the Breece Housing Complex. Spent 9mm and .40 caliber shell casings were found in the area.
The other suspect, Billy Leshun Coleman, 20, was arrested on Sept. 15. An arrest report from January detailed a prior encounter between Coleman and one of the teens who was not shot. In it, Coleman is accused of attacking the victim, knocking him down, and stomping on his head. Coleman was arrested on a charge of second-degree battery and bonded out, but court records show he failed to show up for a hearing and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
The South 1st Street shooting happened less than two weeks after a deadly shooting at Parkview Apartments in which Jones is said to be involved. Monroe police said officers responded to the apartment complex just before 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 1. When they arrived, they discovered two men dead in the parking lot. The deceased victims were identified as Oyah Smith and Lamarcus Plater.
Along with Jones, police identified two other suspects in the Parkview shooting. They are Daniel Towns, 22, and Mario Jones, 19. Both have since been arrested.
Jones faces two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted second-degree murder in connection with the Parkview shooting. Charges were not identified for the South 1st Street shooting. Coleman, the other suspect in that shooting, was booked on one count of attempted second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Jones has yet to be captured. Police say Jones should be considered armed and dangerous.
