MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has released new photos of a Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive and Murfreesboro attorney wanted on rape charges.
David Whelan, 49, is wanted for aggravated rape and statutory rape involving a teenage babysitter.
Rutherford County Sheriff's detectives say the victim was babysitting his daughter and when Whelan arrived home, he raped her. The victim was able to escape and call 911.
Furthermore, TBI said an investigation into Whelan started in February 2019 on allegations that he attempted to get a client to provide sexual activity in lieu of payment.
TBI said the investigation showed Whelan coerced female clients into sex in exchange for attorney's fees.
TBI agents say Whelan may have changed his appearance and released new photos on Wednesday. The photo below is believed to be from the last day he was seen.
Other photos were released of his dog, which is believed to be with him.
