Breaking news fugitive Richard Clay Smith is wanted for a dangerous and deadly crime spree with no end in sight.
This past Wednesday, a 7-Eleven in Rockingham County, Virginia was robbed. Soon a person of interest was named- Richard Clay Smith. The 47-year old smith was already wanted on two counts of misdemeanor bad checks, and one count of violating probation by failing to appear in court.
This past Thursday deputies responded for a welfare check to a residence in the 200 block of Grey Fox Road in Mt Sidney, Virginia. Upon arrival they discovered a shooting victim, 80-year old Richard Orebaugh, a family acquaintance of Smith's. Orebaugh was transported to University Medical Center by helicopter but tragically succumbed to his injuries. Authorities say Smith shot Orebaugh and stole several firearms, and is now charged with first-degree capital murder in addition to other felony charges.
Authorities were also looking for Andrea Mullan who is believed to have assisted Smith in his ongoing crime spree, but she has now been caputed. Smith is still at large.
Richard Clay Smith, 47, is described as a 5-foot 9-inch, 160 pound man with blue eyes as well as brown and gray hair. He also has a Jesus tattoo on his right arm and a dragon tattoo as well as multiple other on his left arm.
