The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section said a Milton man is being added to the department’s most wanted list for the December 2019 murder of a 26-year-old Brockton man named Marshawn Potts.
BROCKTON – Seven months after the murder of a 26-year-old Brockton man, who was found fatally wounded in his driveway on Shaw Road, state police are turning to the public for help locating the suspected shooter.
The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section said on Wednesday that Witchael Normil, 25, of Milton, was added to the department’s most wanted list for the Dec. 13, 2019 murder of Marshawn Potts in Brockton.
Police published a wanted poster telling the public that he is considered “armed and dangerous,” showing pictures of Normil and his various tattoos, including a Chicago Bull style logo on his left shoulder, along with a description of him noting a scar on his cheek.
“Investigators obtained an arrest warrant in Brockton District Court charging Normil with murder,” according to a statement from Massachusetts State Police. “Normil has an extensive criminal history, including previous convictions for assault and weapons offenses. He is actively attempting to evade capture and should be considered armed and dangerous.”
State police said anyone who sees Normil or has knowledge of his whereabouts should contact the State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section at 1-800-KAPTURE (1-800-527-8873) or call 911.
Massachusetts State Police said Normil has ties to Milton and Boston and that he has an extensive criminal history in Massachusetts, including previous convictions for assault with intent to kill, multiple firearms violations and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Normil was indicted in 2015 on firearms charges and being an armed career criminal following a drug raid in Hyannis, which turned up heroin, $9,000 cash and a Taurus .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol under one of Normil’s sweatshirts.
