Kamiyah Mobley was abducted shortly after being born 16 years ago. The above images are a composite of what Kamiyah looked like since no photos had been taken of her and sketches of her abductor. AMW aired the case once on May 20, 2000. On the morning of Jul 10, 1998, 16-year old Shanara Mobley gave birth to a baby girl at a Jacksonville, Florida hospital, who was named Kamiyah. While being admitted as a patient, an unidentified black female posing as a nurse befriended Shanara. The woman waited in the hospital for several hours, asking when Kamiyah would be leaving the nursery. At 3PM that day, the woman told Shanara that there was a problem with Kamiyah's temperature and she would return with the baby in 20 minutes. Kamiyah and the woman were never seen again. The woman seemed to have knowledge of the hospital's layout as well as medical terminology. Officers swarmed the hospital rooms and nearby cars but did not locate the two. Jerry Vance, a supervisor for the National Center For Missing & Exploited Children has a hunch on why Kamiyah was abducted. He thinks the abductor was clever enough to abduct Kamiyah for more than just her own benefit. He thinks that Kamiyah was sold or provided to cover a drug debt. --- Thoughts? This is going to be a very difficult case to solve with the amount of time that's passed. If Kamiyah was sold to cover a drug debt, then who knows what kind of parents ended up looking after her. www.charleyproject.org/cases/m/mobley_kamiyah.htmljacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/071008/met_302043283.shtmlAdmin Note #1: According to missingkids.org, anyone having information should call 1-800-THE-LOST or the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (Florida) at 1-904-630-0500, FBI-Jacksonville at 1-904-721-1211 Or Your Local FBIAdmin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

I hate these newborn kidnap stories. Kamiyah's mother was excited for 9 months looking forward to having a baby girl. And once again on what should have been the greatest day of a mother's life some cold-hearted woman took it away from her. Who knows why Kamiyah was kidnapped. All we have are hunches albeit I think Vance's is a very good hunch. I never want to lose all hope, but it's really all we have.

What complicates this case even more is that no photo of Kamiyah Mobley exists. The photo everybody sees of her is actually a composite. With the fact that no actual photo of her exists, that makes creating an age-enhanced photo impossible.
Kamiyah is now 16 years old (she's actually four days younger than my cousin Steve) so she's very likely living the life of a normal teenager. She probably doesn't even realize she's missing.

With the fact that no actual photo of her exists, that makes creating an age-enhanced photo impossible. That is a really great point and would explain why AMW didn't air this case after 2000 since they didn't have an age-enhanced photo to work with.

Updates: -Kamiyah was found in South Carolina but her name has not been released to protect her privacy -51-year old Gloria Williams was arrested and charged with her kidnapping. Also, for some reason I can't find it but I can swear I read in one article that Gloria Williams was somewhat related to the Mobley family. There is some sadness to this though as apparently Kamiyah was in court telling Gloria that she loves her and will pray for her. While it's still NO EXCUSE, it seems Gloria may have actually been a decent mother and the only one Kamiyah has ever known. This is still a rough time for Kamiyah and I hope she gets through this and learns to love her birth family as well. Kamiyah, if you ever come across this site (or if you prefer to be called by what Gloria named you), I hope you know you didn't do anything wrong and I will pray for you as well to get through this. www.cnn.com/2017/01/13/us/abducted-newborn-found-alive-18-years-later/index.htmlpeople.com/crime/missing-kamiyah-mobley-found/

P.S. Apparently it was a tip to the NCMEC (National Center for Missing & Exploited Children) that broke the case wide open.

I guess Kamiyah decided to go public after all. It turns out her name under Gloria Williams was "Alexis" and she has been reunited with her biological family. It's up to her who she wants to live with. She's now 18 and an adult who can make her own decisions. But I hope she at least spends time with her birth family on holidays, special occasions etc... 6abc.com/news/teen-taken-from-hospital-as-baby-reunited-with-parents/1703212/

New article interviewing Kamiyah a.k.a. Alexis. Sadly this case doesn't seem to have had as happy an outcome so far, as Alexis still seems to be struggling with the fact the mother she knew her entire life could possibly go to jail for the rest of her life, even though she's still trying to get to know her actual birth family. It's a tough case. What Gloria did was wrong, I can't condone it, it was illegal, but it seems like she was a good mother to Alexis for those 18 years and the two formed a bond. At the same time, she denied Kamiyah's parents the opportunity to form that same bond. All I can say is I hope everything works itself out to where things can never be normal in a situation like this, that they can be as normal as they can be. www.postandcourier.com/features/walterboro-teen-kidnapped-from-florida-hospital-as-newborn-rebuilds-her/article_28ec6ec2-cbbe-11e7-988f-3fe9b119a55d.html
