 (Above: Jodi, circa 1995. Photo Credit: Charley Project) Jodi Huisentruit disappeared from Mason City, Iowa nearly 20 years ago. AMW aired this case in September 1995 and I believe on a Final Justice episode based on a msn.tv episode bio. Jodi graduated with a bachelor's degree in tv communication, which she used to get jobs for several TV stations, the last one was with KIMT in Mason City, Iowa. Her last confirmed sighting was from John Vansice who claimed she was at his home, viewing a video tape of a birthday party. At around 4:AM on Jun 27, 1995, she received a call from her producer, she said she had overslept and was leaving for the station. Neighbours reported hearing screams at around the time when she would leave for work, as well as a white van in the area that was never positively identified. KIMT staff would later call authorities and they responded to her apartment, noticing that her personal items, including her keys were found strewn around her car. Mason City police lieutenant Frank Stearns believes she was abducted by one person who knew her daily schedule. However, Jodi's landlord reported hearing two male voices at the time of her disappearance. Stearns has said that John Vansice remains a person of interest and Jodi's sister said that Stearns appeared to be "fixated" on her. ---- Thoughts? Even though John Vansice remains a person of interest, nothing has been made public that really suggests he was Jodi's abductor. He alone wouldn't explain the two male voices reported by the landlord. However, there isn't really anything else to work with in this case. Jodi was declared legally deceased in 2001. I recall seeing this case on tv, but I doubt I remember the 95 AMW airing. I think I remember this on one of those 48 Hours or Dateline type of shows.
In any case eyewitness accounts aren't always credible. The landlord may have thought he heard two male voices- but who knows. It could have been the same guy in different audible tones.
I wish I knew the exact example but I also remember a case on one of those Dateline or ID channel invstigative shows where a female news anchor was being stalked by a man who thought she was sending private messages to him through her broadcasts.
The problem with being a news anchor is even though they may be local celebrities at most in some cases, there are crazy and sick people like that who obsess with anything they may see on tv. My personal feeling is Huisentruit may have had a stalker as well, specifically since we haven't heard anything about any potential boyfriends. But unfortunately there is not a lot to work with.

It seems almost certain that whoever those "voices" were, abducted her and did the unthinkable. It's only as simple as finding the perp, which really shouldn't have been THAT hard. This seems like yet another example of sloppy detective work, as her abductors, and likely killers were most likely known to her In some way, and should be long-caught by now. |

I remember seeing I think it was a disappeared episode on this case and what they had said was that someone was believed to be following her in the days leading up to her disappearance.

 After making my previous diagram of The Springfield Three case ( www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/duh5mf/springfield_three_relationship_diagram_first/) I was requested to make one for this case, which I am currently working on and will hopefully complete before Monday. Currently I only have added the information from Wikipedia and I have a few other sources I will be gleaning information from to complete it. I'd appreciate any feedback, especially with regards to the difference in appearance/style of the diagrams since I am using a different program called draw.io ( www.draw.io/) to make this one. |

Butler's killer, Keith Nelson (seen in an undated photo above), was convicted and sentenced to death. To be honest while there's a lot of information that poster seems to be a little all over the place and a bit of a conspiracy theorist. I know Keith Nelson is real and a convicted killer, but Jodi's remains have never been found, which sort of takes away his credibility.
That's not to say Keith Nelson isn't a good possible suspect, but I looked up and that person has multiple rambling posts on blog postings all over the internet and sounds like a loon.
