John Vu is wanted for murder out of Chicago. He is the last of three US Marshals 15 Most Wanted fugitives that were removed from the list in 2006 without being located to get a thread here. He was aired on AMW in 2006.
In 1995, Vu and several other Vietnamese gang members were arrested for cashing forged checks at Indianapolis banks, and as a result, Vu got three years probation. Vu also had many previous arrests for bank fraud. 11 months later in 1996, Chicago authorities say Vu and his fellow gang members killed a rival gang member. Several arrests were made but Vu was never apprehended. The US Marshals informed Interpol because Vu may have fled to Vietnam, even though he was born in Philadelphia.
Thoughts? Since Vu has been on the run for 18 years, he may have managed to flee to Vietnam and that might have been the reason why the Marshals removed him from the list. My only issue with this is regarding a 1990s FBI MW Fugitive named Thang Thanh Nguyen. In 1992, Nguyen killed his employer and he was listed on the FBI MW List in 1996 (I believe according to the old amw site that he was on the AMW 10 Most Wanted List in 1997). Nguyen was arrested in Vietnam in December 1997 and was transported to Thailand where he was then extradited to the US. So since it is somewhat possible at least to apprehend fugitives in Vietnam, the Marshals must have had very few leads on John Vu.

UPDATE from site admin: I have not been able to find any new online articles in the four years since HeadMarshal's original posting on this case. As far as I can tell, Vu is still at large as of this update (7/23/2018) since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise. Of course, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
