Armando Magana Garcia is charged in connection with the homicide of 32-year old Lena Mae Layton. Armando had paid Lena to marry him so he could obtain US citizenship. Newspapers.com elaborates that the relationship went downhill when Lena wanted more money from Armando. Lena also had refused to give up her occupation as a sex worker.
Authorities in Austin, Texas allege that Armando strangled Lena to death as a result of their issues. Her body was found under an overpass. Armando is believed to have fled to the interior of Mexico after the homicide.
