It wasn’t random. The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office, who’s investigating the case with Wapato Police, says the shooting at Lions Park last week was gang-related. As of today, February 16, 2021, Christopher Trejo's case entry in the Washington State Court Records database is classified as "on warrant". Additionally, I found an article where Carlos's mother said that her son was not a gang member. It should be noted that gang members kill innocent people all the time. I just bring this up because we do have cases on the site where teenagers are involved in either gangs and/or drugs. In any of these cases, these victims did not deserve to die whether they were simply at the wrong place at the wrong time, or if they made some bad decisions in their youth. www.yakimaherald.com/news/crime_and_courts/prayer-walk-brings-comfort-love-for-family-of-slain-wapato-boy/article_b40c9410-403a-5a65-ba31-e80df02c0925.htmlAlso I hope that Christopher Trejo can be aired on the revived AMW at some point.

I really wish news articles would specify when they say "gang-related" as that could mean many things- mistaken identity, unintended target caught in crossfire, victims of initiations etc.. all count as gang-related but the first thing that will pop into people's heads is that both victim and suspect were in gangs.
With that being said, even in Carlos was in a gang, he would have still been only 14 years old with plenty of time to turn his life around and still with a family. The fact that Carlos's mother says he wasn't in a gang only makes this case even more tragic.

As of today, July 16, 2022, Christopher is still on the Yakima County Crime Stoppers Most Wanted website. I checked PACER and did not see an UFAP (Unlawful Flight To Avoid Prosecution) warrant for him.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s hiding out somewhere in Seattle, or Tacoma, or suburban Portland, OR and even in Oregon, there’s plenty of places to hide as Oregon has a few cities along I-5 like Portland, Salem, Eugene, and Medford where he could’ve settled down in since going on the run.
