DETROIT (WXYZ) — The U.S. Marshals say they need your help tracking down a man whose crimes continue to escalate.
The Marshals say they began investigating 40-year-old Maurice Turner after he planned an armed robbery, but he is now at the top of their most wanted list as the suspect in a murder.
Police say Turner planned to lure two men to rob at gunpoint.
"He was put down on the ground at gunpoint and he took a cell phone and some cash - and then Mr. Turner pointed the gun at the other victim who was in the driver's seat of the vehicle," said U.S. Marshals DFAT supervisor Andrew Ballard.
The U.S. Marshals say the second victim was a friend of Turner's late mother, and he said he would always look after her son. Keeping that promise, he met Turner near Clairmount and Linwood to look at rental homes.
Police say Turner fired shots at that man as he tried to get away. The shooting happened midday in April, sparking the search for Turner.
"He's wanted in multiple warrants, assault with intent to murder on this case, possession of a firearm by a felon as well as felonious assault from a separate incident, so he has a long history of extremely violent tendencies," Ballard said.
Now, the U.S. Marshals say Turner has been named as a suspect in a murder on Detroit's west side.
Police say his crimes are violent and have only escalated - and they say they need your help to find him.
"He's in the area of Woodward and Calvert," Ballard said.
"As always, there is a cash reward for any information leading to the arrest of Maurice Turner or any of Detroit's Most wanted. You can call the U.S. Marshals at 313-234-5656.

Thoughts? I'm fairly confident Turner is still at large as of this posting date (April 15th, 2020), since Detroit's Most Wanted is very good at keeping up-to-date and although not murder charges I did find court listings on the other charges mentioned in the article with no movements since a recommendation for warrant back in June 2019 in Detroit's online criminal court records: cmspublic.3rdcc.org/CaseDetail.aspx?CaseID=3762008
Of course, if anyone ever has any updates/proof-of-updates, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
