One unfortunate aspect of AMW is that most episodes were never reran. Once an episode aired, unless you got really lucky, you would never see it again. Because of this, there are many episodes and seasons of AMW that will never see the light of day again. A DVD release is unlikely at best (AMW doesn't have the fan following that shows like "Unsolved Mysteries" do. UM's fans really put us to shame with all they know about their favorite show).
That said, what years or seasons of AMW would you like to see if you had the chance to?
Here's what I would pick:
Season 1 - I don't think anybody is shocked by this. Unlike other seasons, we actually do have an idea of all the episodes that aired in the first season (it can be found fairly easily just by Googling the names of AMW's early captures) but I've discovered those guides aren't 100% accurate (for example, I know for a fact that Michaela Garecht was profiled on February 26, 1989, which isn't mentioned on any of the guides that exist). I would love nothing more than to watch the first season, not only to confirm who actually was profiled, but to see all those original profiles. If you look hard enough, you can find clips of some of these cases on sites like YouTube and Vimeo, and even though it looks like the show was filmed in a studio about as big as your average living room, there's something really nostalgic about it.
1996-1997 Season - This was the season where AMW was canceled for the first time and then brought back. Also, for me personally, the year 1996 is really nostalgic to me (not sure why; I was in 1st/2nd grade at the time) and I would love to see what was going on at AMW during that time. This was also about the time amw.com premiered and the show began to use the internet to help them catch fugitives (though the first web-exclusive capture wouldn't happen until 2001).
2000-2001 Season - The first episodes of the new millennium, and based on the episode guide on the old site, it seemed like the show was going after a ton of fugitives these two years. Both of which, based on the capture counter, were also highly successful for AMW. Also, I really, really want to see the original 50/50 show
What seasons would you love to see of AMW if you had the choice?
