Authorities say that Jose Bautista went to a local bar with his two brothers and cousin. Three brothers, 21-year old Roberto Jimenez, 19-year old Erlindo Jimenez and 17-year old Manuel Jimenez also went to the same bar.
When Jose's cousins were driving away from the bar, they knocked gravel onto the car belonging to the Jimenez brothers. Witnesses stated that the Jimenez brothers shouted obscenities towards Jose's cousins. Jose and his brother heard this and went to confront the Jimenez brothers.
The five men then scuffled and Jose is accused of pulling out a gun and shooting the three Jimenez brothers. Roberto survived his injuries but tragically, Manuel and Erlindo were killed as a result of this dispute.
A warrant was issued for Jose Bautista's arrest and it was believed he may have initially fled to San Antonio, Texas. However he is believed to have likely fled to his native country of Mexico.
This information was confirmed through the Austin Homicide Unit's website as well as a 1984 Newspapers.com article.

Thoughts? As of today, March 20, 2020, Jose is still at large since he is on what appears to be a brand new website by the Austin Police Homicide Unit which covers many of their fugitive homicide suspects. I really appreciate that they've been able to bring several cases onto the internet, including this case.
Jose would also only be in his late 50s by now so he is most likely still alive. As we've seen from other cases, he may have returned to the US at some point if he did in fact initially flee to Mexico.
And finally, I don't care who started the dispute at the bar, the consequences need to still be on Jose for allegedly ending the dispute by shooting the three Jimenez brothers.
