Well, there has already been one FBI top tenner confirmed for season 2, but the "Mitch" character sounds like it could be another one to me. Then again, the "most wanted" fugitives are the ones I'm most familiar with. What do you think?

I created a Facebook page for him around 2008 or so and updated it for several years - it has the profile "Dan Hiers - Wanted Fugitive." I haven't updated it in several years. At the time I created it, I was rather surprised that the FBI and Marshals hadn't used social media prominently as a means of tracking fugitives, but I suppose they have since then.

I do remember hearing about the Mexico issue from that article and I think others, although I forgot exactly what it related to. Honestly, I think there are tons of American fugitives in Mexico (not that that isn't common knowledge), even some notorious long-running most-wanted types. I remember reading that people thought Randy Yager was in Europe, and instead he turned up not that far "south of the border." It wouldn't surprise me if some aren't commingling with Mexican gangs...not saying that I think Fisher is necessarily, but it's a possibility.

Yeah, I remember seeing that the caller said that on a website when I was Googling Fisher a while back. Not sure if the page is still active, but it stated that someone called the hotline and said that and authorities "suspected" that it may have been him. I'm thinking that perhaps if it was him he wanted to keep it brief and mentally glossed over his kids as collateral damage.
Grand Isle...if my mind serves me correctly, that's also one of the places authorities suspected that Whitey Bulger may have been hiding. I could be wrong on that, but if so then it was another town in Louisiana.

I'm wondering what everyone makes of the call to the AMW hotline made in late 2001 I think from the pay phone in the area off I-95 south of Richmond, VA (I forget the name of the town off the top of my head) in which I read that the caller I believe said, "This is Robert Fisher. You will never catch me, and I'm glad I killed the b!tch." It could have been a prankster, as no explicit details about the crime were revealed by this statement, but then again there's the chance it was him...and if it was, he's been right about the not being caught so far.
If it was indeed him, I think it's possible he was traveling up the coast on the interstate (95). He could fit in somewhere in Appalachia in my opinion, or virtually anywhere because of his "typical country boy" appearance. Any thoughts?

While the Marshals have been cleaning up their additions since 2011, they have quite the crop of long-runners on their remaining "9 most wanted" list. I'm a little surprised Gaston has lasted this long, but perhaps he is indeed transient. I also thought Robert King would be apprehended quickly, but there has been speculation that he drastically altered his appearance, so maybe that has something to do with it. As for picking a fugitive that will be next to "go down," I have no clue. Any one of the remaining nine could be next.

Totally possible...how many would have guessed that Bulger was still in the States (although some did think he was in Florida or Louisiana)? It seems to me that publicity of the most wanted lists has diminished in recent years, although this perception could be due to my relative youth, the fact that AMW is no longer on the air notwithstanding.
Add that to the fact that Bulger was a much more prolific fugitive than Hiers or essentially anyone else currently on either the FBI's or the Marshals' most wanted lists with the possible exception of Eduardo Ravelo or Semion Mogilevich, and it seems all the more unlikely that an average Joe would recognize a fugitive on these lists living next door.
While Hiers wasn't in the FBI or Marshals, his experience as a regular police officer makes it seem to me that the dropping of his car in Laredo could have been a ruse, and he could have then traveled elsewhere in the States. He did go through the trouble of removing the VIN, however.
I'd also bet he has been keeping abreast of his profiles on AMW and information about him in the media otherwise, and if he was mingling with white supremacists in the Pacific Northwest that he hightailed it out of there soon after the possibility was broadcast on AMW. Then again, it could have been a look-alike...

I feel like this is a case that would benefit from an airing on The Hunt to receive exposure on an international news network. If he is still alive, I feel that he is probably in Mexico or Central America. I suppose I'm not as inclined to think he's in Brazil, as that seems like somewhere he would stand out. Other South American countries such as Argentina are a tertiary possibility...yet he could have flown overseas under a fake ID for all I know.

Thanks for the recommendation of the Forum Members' Most Wanted...I've been lurking around this forum for a while, but I really need to brush up on my 2015 fugitives. On the Vigilantos note, I now remember the word "ojos" from high school Spanish, which I've largely forgotten.
Also, thanks for the warm welcome back Scumhunter. As far as the Ten Most Wanted list is concerned, I'm eagerly awaiting the next capture/case resolution, hopefully soon, both so another fugitive on the list can hopefully face justice and so a spot will open for Alex Hill...

Anyone but Semion Mogilevich, but I'm personally the happiest with the addition of Yaser Said, albeit nearly 7 years after his alleged crime and start of his time on the lam. I don't understand why Brad Bishop was added almost 40 years ex post facto, but then again I'm not in law enforcement and perhaps the FBI has reasons of which I am unaware. Either way, he's still at large as far as we know and in my humble opinion he should have been added back in the '70s.
A note about my username: I intend it to be pronounced "vigilant eye," not like "vigilante." I absolutely do not endorse vigilantism due to the potential for terrible mistakes to result. Approximately five years ago, I posted on the AMW forum under the handle "Vigilantos." It's good to be back, but in the intervening years I always kept a vigilant eye open for fugitives while trying not to be paranoid :-)
