Authorities are trying to identify a serial killer that was active in the early 90s. AMW and Unsolved Mysteries aired this case in the early-mid 90s and it was also featured on AMW: Final Justice.
From Apr 8 to May 7, 1992, an unidentified man would shoot and kill six people in stores alongside Interstate 70. 26-year old Robin Fuldauer was the first victim inside the Indianapolis store where she worked. Three days later, the man killed 23-year old Patricia Smith and 32-year old Patricia Magers at a bridal shop in Wichita, Kansas. 40-year old Michael McCown was killed on Apr 27 at a Terre Haute, Indiana ceramics store, he may have been targeted because he may have been mistaken for a woman. On May 3, 24-year old Nancy Kitzmiller was killed in the St. Charles, Missouri boot store she managed. On May 7, 37-year old Sarah Blessing was killed at a shopping center in Raytown, Missouri. A grocery store clerk saw the killer climb an embankment to an I-70 access road, and vanish.
In the next two years after the 1992 murder spree, investigators believe the serial killer shot three shopkeepers in Texas, killing two of them.
The only clues in this case are the murder weapon being a .22 caliber pistol and the description of the serial killer. He was a young, slender white male who in 1992 was 5'7 to 5'9, with sandy or red hair. Interestingly, after the killer committed the double homicide of the two Wichita bridal shop employees, he confronted a man who was picking up something for his tuxedo, he let the man leave without injury.
Donald Albin Blom is a possible suspect in the murders. He was convicted of murdering a woman and owned a .22 caliber weapon, investigators also believe he's serial killer.
Thoughts? This is one of the few cold case US serial killers that was never identified. For whatever reason, AMW didn't air this case after probably the mid 90s, not even during the 2011 serial killer episode. I feel this is a really underrated case.
As for the serial killer's motives. Due to the fact that most of his confirmed victims were women and the only man he killed may have been mistaken for a woman, we're probably dealing with someone who really hates women. Perhaps he abused his girlfriends/wives, maybe he even raped women at some point in his life. There's little DNA evidence to test so if the killer was arrested at some point for another crime and his DNA is in the national system, authorities would not know about it. It is possible that Blom could be the serial killer, but I haven't read anything to really suggest that he would be.
