A flight took off from Alexandria International Airport on Wednesday (Feb. 12), marking the end of a 12-year effort to bring an Albanian murderer to justice, according to a release from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents in New Orleans. According to the agency, that flight held Marjan Rroku, 40, a former Albanian secret service agent who was convicted of murdering his 16-year-old girlfriend and her mother in Albania on March 29, 2001. "This removal shows that these individuals will not be allowed to use the United States as a haven to avoid criminal prosecution in their home country," said ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations New Orleans Acting Field Office Director Michael W. Meade. Agents said Rroku initially fled to Miami as a tourist under a false name in June 2001. Agents said he was convicted by an Albanian court of double murder, in absentia, in 2002. The television show "America's Most Wanted" periodically highlighted Rroku from 2006 until the fugitive's initial capture in Queens, N.Y., in 2010, agents said. Following his capture, the agency said, Rroku filed for asylum and made appeals. According to authorities, his final appeal was denied last June. After landing in Tirana, Albania, U.S. Agents Thursday (Feb. 13) handed Rroku over to Albanian law enforcement. www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2014/02/new_orleans-based_federal_agen.html

I was so outraged by Rroku's crime I made him my #1 Most Wanted fugitive of 2006, and this far the first fugitive whose crime was committed in a foreign country to top my list.
As we remember on the AMW re-enactment, Rroku was a member of the secret police. So obviously I have some concerns, but hopefully since he was already convicted, he is well on his way to spending the rest of his life in prison.

I completely hated this monster for what he did. Hopefully he rots in an Albanian prison.
