According to Newslibrary archives, on August 27, 1998, Guillermo Castillo and Yordin Bolanos were either invited or agreed to meet Joel Lynn Gerhart at Joel's Houston residence. Once there, the three decided to have a few drinks. Afterwards, authorities say that Guillermo and Yordin allegedly beat Joel to death. Guillermo and Yordin fled in separate vehicles, Guillermo reportedly fled with Joel's television set in the victim's car.
Guillermo and Yordin were soon arrested but Guillermo posted a $20,000 bond and fled. At Yordin's trial, the defendant claimed that Joel had sexually assaulted him after taking a few pills. Yordin was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1999 for the charge of capital murder. Guillermo is still at large to this day.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS if you have any information on Guillermo Alejandro Castillo's whereabouts.

Thoughts? As of today, October 21, 2018, Guillermo Castillo is still at large since there has been no movement in his case according to the Harris County Online Court Records since 1998. We know for sure that he's not a US citizen but what's unclear is what his birth country is. For new readers, we only care about this because it would determine possible whereabouts.
And about Yordin's claim of being sexually assaulted by the victim. It's not unheard for adult men to be sexually assaulted (we have fugitive cases on this site about crimes of that nature), but why would the alleged killer(s) steal a television set after a sexual assault had taken place. That's why I felt the claim made no sense, and I'm sure the judge and/or jury in Yordin's trial felt the same way.
