Thoughts? The minor charge I corrected was the press release referred to Black Bear as 4 years old. *sigh*. I am assuming they meant 34 years old at the time and as of this posting date. (2/12/2018), Black Bear would be 39 years old according to his South Dakota DOC inmate lookup.
According to a 2003 Rapid City Journal article, Black Bear was involved in a car crash with three other passengers of his. One was a 14 year-old boy who died. A 30 year-old male also passed away. A 16 year-old boy was injured but apparently survived. (Or I'm assuming and hoping he did). Drunk driving was suspected at the time. As is often the case in vehicular homicide cases, Black Bear was not injured.
In any case, whether Black Bear was drinking or not, he was found criminally responsible from a jury of his peers and needs to be caught to serve his full sentence. Black Bear is still listed as one of the South Dakota Department of Corrections' most wanted escapees as of this posting date. (2/12/2018).
