As someone who lives in Canada I must say, Excellent News!

Another article is crediting a tip from an alert hospital worker who recognized him. He was receiving medical treatment under a false name. But seeing how notorious Rupert was, it could have been local media and the article states she recognized him from a mugshot. So probably not amw but we shall see anyway!

As someone who lives in Canada I must say, Excellent News! Haha part of me was like "so should I wait for Derek to post this?" J/k I know you're just happy to see him caught. But this is a case where imo there is no allegedly. Multiple people have said he was the guy who conned them and security footage backs that up. Anyone who preys on people who have a lesser ability to defend themselves such as children, senior citizens, and the disabled are the lowest form of scum. Rupert was/is a huge piece of trash and I'm glad he's caught.

I agree, this is excellent news! Rupert's the kind of guy I hear about all the time here in my line of work. They scam people who may not be as well-versed in these scams and as a result they fall for them every single time. Glad to hear that Rupert will no longer be a threat.
For reference, AMW profiled Rupert twice in 2010 and once in 2011.

I could have sworn there was a thread done on this guy already or am I seeing things You're not seeing things. I didn't have my laptop on me and merging threads on my phone is an annoying process where I have to hold down my thumb three times so I deleted the old thread and made a new one.

The sentence: 3 years- with credit for time served. Unbelievable. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he assault at least one of the seniors? He had a pattern of robberies, multiple ones over decades. He was a career criminal. Many of times he was caught on camera with his victim so I don't want hear any well maybe the guilty plea was so light because they couldn't prove all of them excuse. Should have been in jail for the rest of his life. Oh and I love one article says after jail he is banned from seniors residents, nursing homes and care facilities. Like that is really going to stop a con artist. (Although I love the irony of what happens when Rupert is of senior age himself. Will he not be allowed to go to a home? lol). In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if we're profiling Rupert on our site again one day in a few years thanks to this light sentence. www.theprovince.com/news/Nephew+Bandit+sentenced+crimes+against+seniors/10346111/story.html

About the 3-year sentence, Canada has much more lenient sentencing laws than the United States. I'm also expecting that in three-four years, we're going to have profile Rupert again.

I figured as much. But I was hoping all of Rupert's crimes would add up. No such luck apparently.
