Photo Credits: Kansas Bureau Of Investigation Hispanic male DOB 4-10-58 5 foot 8 inches 170 pounds Black hair Brown eyes Alias: Jesus Ortega -- In 1987, authorities in Topeka, Kansas say that Jesus beat his 2-year old stepdaughter to death. He is presumed to have fled after the murder to Mexico and has been at large ever since. Based on investigating agencies, it is advised to contact the Kansas Bureau Of Investigation at 1-800-572-7463 if you have any information on Jesus Mares's whereabouts.
Also any news-related updates or additional information on this case can be forwarded to us at amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form-- Thoughts? I only came across the little information I have on this story from a 1999 article about an unrelated Topeka, Kansas fugitive fleeing to Mexico. The article had two sentences mentioning Jesus Mares. Considering Jesus's victim was his 2-year old stepdaughter, there needs to be much stronger effort to figure out his current whereabouts. www.kansas.gov/kbi/mostwanted/mw_mares.shtmlcjonline.com/stories/082299/com_refuge.shtml#.WOnEBtLyt1t

Nice find. I knew about this fugitive from the KBI page but there wasn't enough info to profile him. How hard is it for them to mention on the page itself who his alleged victim was though? It could inspire people to send in tips rather than just seeing "second degree murder."

While doing some research I came across a piece of a "Crime Stoppers 800" episode. Crime Stoppers 800 was a similar show to AMW that was on the air from around 1989-1991 to the best of my knowledge. The video isn't the best quality but it does show Jesus Mares's three-minute segment. It mentions that aside from Mexico, Jesus may travel to the Denver, Colorado area as well as Kansas City potentially. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc9p-B9OxUk

Also I guess we should move Mares to the fugitives on TV section since he was technically on a national (albeit syndicated) crime show so I'll do that.
