While Final Justice ended a long time ago, that didn't mean AMW stopped airing "Final Justice" segments within the show. Every once in awhile, AMW would update a capture case following the conviction. I can think of quite a few that happened in recent years:
John Stoneman & Patricia Kelley - AMW updated the case in early 2005 after Stoneman pleaded guilty and Kelley pleaded no contest to the charges against them. Both were sentenced to life. This segment featured an interview with Misty, the victim's mother, which was the first time a member of the victim's family spoke to AMW about the case.
Fabian Smart - Retired Det. Joe Matthews followed this case all the way to its conclusion; the 2005 conviction of Fabian Smart for the murder of Jason McMann. AMW spent so much time on this case that it was a no-brainer that the conviction be profiled.
James Sullivan - Shortly after his conviction in 2006, Rick Segall gave a full-length Final Justice profile on the longtime fugitive. Though Sullivan was captured back in 2002, his trial had received extensive publicity, and was even broadcast live on CourtTV.
Jaroslaw Ambrozuk - During a summer 2007 rerun of Ambrozuk's capture episode (which originally aired in November 2006), Angeline Hartmann dubbed in a sentence saying that the fugitive had pleaded guilty to negligent homicide and received two years in prison. Not technically a "Final Justice" segment, but you can clearly tell something had changed.
Christian Rodriguez - One of my favorite Final Justice profiles, AMW followed one of the victims as she waited for Christian Rodriguez to finally go to trial. While it did end in a conviction, there was the possibility he'd get acquitted, since apparently some evidence had been lost and due to delays the trial didn't happen until early 2008, three years after Rodriguez was captured and nine years after the rape.
Rufino Castaneda - Very similarly to the Christian Rodriguez case, AMW aired details on Rufino Castaneda's conviction. But my absolute favorite part was that his victim no longer used the alias "Tiffany" and instead allowed AMW to refer to her by her real name. To me, it seemed like she had come full circle. When Unsolved Mysteries aired this case, her face was halfway hidden in shadow and she was wearing glasses and using an alias. AMW showed her full face but used an alias. And at this point, 10 years later, she was now comfortable enough to tell the world who she was.
Michael Bresnahan - During the summer of 2010, when AMW visited Boston, John Walsh presented a Final Justice update on the conviction of rapist Michael Bresnahan. Many fans, including myself, wondered why this case has been chosen as a Final Justice segment and why another fugitive case was not profiled.
Can anyone else think of any other post-Final Justice Final Justice segments? (Yes, I know that sounds weird)
