Name: Cruz-Silva, Yocundo
D.O.B.: 11/14/74
Height: 5’5”
Weight: 178 lbs
Hair style/color: black
Synopsis of Crime: Yocundo Cruz-Silva was arrested for the Negligent Homicide of SLCPD Officer Michael Dunman on July 17, 2000, after Cruz-Silva’s vehicle drove off of southbound State Street near 1500 South. The vehicle jumped the curb onto the sidewalk and struck Officer Dunman who was patrolling the area on a police mountain bike. Cruz-Silva was jailed on the charge of negligent homicide; but despite being an undocumented foreign national, and therefore a flight risk, he was released from jail. He promptly fled the area, becoming a fugitive from justice. He is believed to have absconded to his native country of Mexico. Wanted on $100,000 warrant for Negligent Homicide and Possession with Intent.
Additionally, Yocundo Cruz-Silva's defense was that one of his tires blew while he was driving, which according to him, caused him to lose control and crash into Michael Dunman's squad car. His attorney called the investigation by the Salt Lake City Police Department as discriminatory.
Based on wanted location, our advice for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Yocundo Cruz-Silva would be to contact the Salt Lake City Police Department at 801-799-3100.

Thoughts? Yocundo Cruz-Silva has every right to use that defense in a court of law but he is not helping matters by not returning to Salt Lake City to face his charges. The biggest challenge is going to be convincing Mexico to locate and extradite Yocundo on the charges with negligent homicide. Hopefully one day we can determine the truth that happened on July 17, 2000 and get some answers to close this tragic case.
