Pedro Montiel Reyes is wanted out of Hyattsville, Maryland for the brutal murder of his girlfriend. Reyes was aired on the June 17th, 2006 and June 2nd, 2007 episode of America's Most Wanted. Below is the archive description of the case:
An Unfounded Accusation
Police in Prince George's County, Md. are on the hunt for Pedro Montiel Reyes -- a man they say murdered his girlfriend in a fit of jealousy and rage.
Cops say Reyes has a bad temper -- and that it flared up when he suspected his girlfriend, Josefa Arias, was cheating on him. On March 15, 2005, authorities say Reyes hovered in a window in Josefa's apartment, waiting for her to come home. When she arrived, he allegedly stabbed her to death with a knife.
According to cops, a neighbor in the apartment complex heard a woman screaming that night and called the police. But when authorities arrived, they didn't see anything suspicious.
A Horrifying Discovery
Two days later, one of Josefa's friends went to the apartment's rental office to tell the manager she hadn't been able to get in touch with her for several days. Cops say the manager and friend went to the apartment -- and to their horror, they found Josefa, lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Cops say that because Josefa was still wearing the same clothes she was observed wearing two days before, they deduced the murder took place the night the neighbor heard screaming coming from the apartment.
Cops say they recovered a pair of Reyes' pants from the crime scene that had blood on them -- and DNA tests proved the blood belonged to Josefa. According to cops, Reyes had lived with Josefa for several months prior to the murder, and had a key to her apartment.
Authorities say they're certain Reyes is responsible for the murder -- but they haven't been able to track him down. He hasn't been seen since the day of Josefa's murder.
Thoughts? We've seen it way too many times on AMW where a husband or boyfriend for no reason constantly accuses his girlfriend of cheating on him for absolutely no reason. Let's see- you're jealous, paranoid, possessive, and controlling. Why would any woman in the world want to cheat on you?
Not a lot of info in the way of possible locations. It's been a decade or so on the run now, so based on that Mexico shouldn't be ruled out.
